Last year, SK Hynix officially announced that it would acquire Intel’s NAND flash memory and storage business for US$9 billion. The acquisition includes Intel's NAND SSD business, NAND components and wafer business, which also includes a chip factory in the Jinpu New District of Dalian, China. This transaction will create more opportunities for the semiconductor industry, promote more diverse competition and development, and will also bring more new opportunities for the development of Dalian's information industry.
According to the cooperation memorandum of understanding, SK Hynix will continue to invest and build the Dalian chip factory, and the Dalian municipal government will provide necessary support for the smooth handover and transition of the Dalian chip factory.
